This is art
Art is what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance to a person.
Art can be expressed in many different ways. There is the way of drawing and painting, and the
way of music, or performing arts. Art comes in many forms. Famous artists such as Vincent Van
Gough, or Pablo Picasso expressed art through the visual arts (painting). People such as
Donatello, or Michelangelo, or Auguste Rodin express art through sculpting. You also have the
musical way of expression. People like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, or Debussy. The previous
examples listed are not the only ways to express art. There are many ways to express yourself
through art.
If you look at the "timeline" of art, you will see a very dramatic change in it as the years
progressed. A long time ago, art was so real, and traditional. It was usually seen as portraits of
people. If you look at art now, you will see that it is quite the change. We have many different
styles of modern-day art. We have styles such as abstract, graffiti, anime, realistic, pointalism,
and many others. Some of these are very simple and straight forward. Some have meaning,
and soul, and feeling. It is the same with the other examples as well. We have evolved as a
society, a culture, and nation in many different ways. Art is a big part of that.
I'm sure you've asked this question before but, why do we do art? Why is that essential?
Why do we as a society need art? Think for a second why we need it.
That didn't take too long, did it? No, because art is everything. The words on this page
are considered art. The painted lines on streets and highways are considered art. Stop signs are
considered art. Our culture is considered art. Our bodies are considered art. Everything we have,
and everything we do is art. My point is, art is essential for society. It is also good for society.
Artists, musicians, sculptors, performers, they are all alike in some way. They show the world
how to get what you want to say heard, without being loud and obnoxious about it. Art is a sort
of unspoken language that only certain people can understand. It is the same people that wrote it.
The same people who leave legends behind, or just live a happier life because of it.
This is part of our culture, our history, our everyday life. We use it. We need it. This is why.
